Simple and Sophisticated: Spring Transition Must Haves

IMG_6837.JPG

Spring is just around the corner and I'm sure you're already overwhelmed with all of the new trends. (I know I am!) But don't worry, I'm here to help!

By now, we've got to all be sick of the same pastels and crazy flower prints that everyone's been wearing for what seems like every spring ever. As Miranda Priestly once famously (and sarcastically) said, "Florals, for spring? Groundbreaking." So, how do you get that chic March-May look without looking like you sprouted up from somebody's backyard? Three words: keep it simple.

NEUTRALS ARE YOUR FRIEND. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of patterns and pairing unexpected pieces together. But, having the right neutral staples in your wardrobe is a must. Denim, nude, tan, orange, black, and brown are the shades you'll want to stick with when recreating this outfit.

THE BASICS

Kicking off this look is a perfect pair of jeans! It can be SO tough to find the right fit. I've struggled with this since I was in middle school and could never grasp the concept that while I may be a certain size in one store, in another store I will most definitely be something different. In the past few years, I've personally become a big fan of Topshop's Joni jeans. The high-waist is extremely flattering and I love the stretchy material. They make me feel snug and secure, but are also super on trend!

For this spring ensemble, I'm pairing them with a simple Beatles graphic T. Tucked in of course! You can't go wrong with this look. And you might be thinking..."Really? Jeans and a t-shirt?" But we aren't finished yet.

THE JACKET

One of the most important must-haves for any season's wardrobe is something perfectly fit to you. A structured, fitted, jacket can pull any look together in seconds. I found my go-to 70s vintage, suede jacket at a thrift store and, as if sent from the fashion-Gods themselves, it fits me like a glove. If you are lucky enough to score an amazing vintage find at a discounted price like me, then it is a cause for celebration! However, if not, I still think that jackets are worth the investment. There are so many ways to pair them with different looks!

THE SHOES

Let's be real. Accessories are the best part of any outfit. Another MAJOR score I made recently were these basket-woven, heeled, Gucci mules. And while I cannot find them anywhere to give you a proper link, I'd suggest checking out The RealReal for similar discounted-luxury finds. Mules are the ultimate for any stylish lady and these add a little kick of sass to this look!
